Argyll House Rules

At Argyll, we’re proud to offer beautifully designed workspaces with a refined atmosphere and exceptional service. To keep our spaces professional, welcoming, and secure for everyone, we ask all customers and guests to follow a few simple house rules.

By doing so, you help us maintain the high standards that define the Argyll experience. Thank you for being considerate and contributing to a positive working environment.

Access

On-site support

Our team are here to support you during our standard operating hours (excluding bank holidays). These are typically Monday to Thursday, 8:30am – 5:30pm, and Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm. Opening times may vary slightly between buildings and during holiday periods, so we recommend checking with your centre team.

Office customer access

If you’re an office customer, you have 24/7 access to your home centre, along with access during standard hours to Argyll’s network of business lounges and coworking areas across central London.

Coworking customer access

If you’re a coworking customer, 24/7 access is available only if your home centre is either Nova North or King William Street. All other locations – and for customers based at different centres – coworking areas and lounges are accessible during standard operating hours only.

Access cards and keys

If you’re an office customer, you’ll receive an access card or fob for each registered team member, along with a key to your office (if your space is lockable by key). In some buildings, access is keyless and managed through a mobile app, which our team will help you set up during your onboarding.

Access cards are assigned to individuals and must not be shared. If a card or key is lost, we can arrange a replacement for £35 + VAT per item. Additional cards may be issued at the discretion of the centre team, also at £35 + VAT each.

Coworking customers will not receive personal access cards or office keys. Access is managed by the team during staffed hours, or through building-specific procedures where 24/7 access applies. To use the space, please check in at reception on arrival so we can get you settled in.

Security

CCTV

To help keep you safe, 24-hour CCTV operates throughout all Argyll buildings in accordance with current data protection legislation. You must not tamper with or obstruct any security equipment, including CCTV cameras, access card readers, or other systems.

Doors and access points

Please do not prop open doors or use emergency release buttons unless necessary. Be mindful that doors close fully behind you. For security reasons, all exit doors are alarmed. Outside of standard hours, please ensure alarmed doors are not held open for more than 30 seconds – unnecessary security callouts may incur a £90 + VAT fee.

Contractors and staff presence

If any contractors need to access your space, we’ll always aim to notify you in advance and accompany them during working hours. Our cleaners, maintenance team, and security staff all wear identifiable uniforms. If you see anything suspicious, please report it to a member of the Argyll team, or outside office hours, call our off-site security team:

  • General number: 0370 770 6883
  • King William Street: 0771 003 1326
  • Nova North: 020 7821 4499

Insurance and securing valuables

As outlined in your agreement, please ensure you arrange contents insurance for your office and share confirmation with our team. Lock valuable items in a secure place, every desk includes a lockable pedestal and cabinet. Always ensure your office is secure when you leave.

Please also take care of your belongings throughout the building. Items should never be left unsecured or unattended. Argyll cannot accept responsibility for any lost items, and insurance claims may be invalidated if security measures are not followed.

Departing employees

If a team member leaves your business, please let us know straight away so we can deactivate their access credentials. This helps keep your team and others safe.

Health & Safety

Fire alarms and drills

Each building conducts a weekly fire alarm test – please check with your centre team to confirm the schedule. Full evacuation drills take place twice a year. If you hear the fire alarm outside of the regular test time, treat it as a real emergency and follow the correct evacuation procedure immediately.

In the event of a fire

    • Break the nearest red fire alarm point or alert a member of the Argyll team.
    • Leave the building via the closest fire exit. Do not use the lift.
    • If you have guests or visitors on site, you are responsible for their safety and must ensure they evacuate with you.
    • Fire wardens will report to the assembly point; all others should follow the “evacuate and disperse” approach:
        • Disperse to a safe location away from the building and assembly area.
        • Do not return until you receive confirmation that it’s safe to do so.

Please familiarise yourself with your building’s primary assembly point in advance.

Risk and fire assessments

Argyll carries out regular risk and fire assessments for the communal areas of the building. However, you are responsible for conducting your own risk assessment and fire safety arrangements within your office, including assigning First Aiders if needed.

Reporting accidents and near misses

Please report any accidents, injuries, or near misses to the General Manager of your building as soon as possible. This helps us take the right steps to prevent future incidents.

Code of Conduct

We’re proud to be known for our exceptional service, built on respect, care, and professionalism. To support a safe and inclusive working environment for everyone, we ask all customers, team members and suppliers to uphold the standards set out in our Code of Conduct. It outlines our expectations around respectful behaviour, including topics such as harassment and discriminatory language.

Please take a moment to read the full Code of Conduct to help us maintain a welcoming and positive atmosphere for all.

Coworking & Lounge etiquette

Fair use of coworking space

Coworking areas are designed for flexible, short-term use rather than as permanent workstations, and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure fair access for all members, we may limit use if it’s impacting others. If a space is full, we’ll be happy to suggest an alternative Argyll location nearby.

Guests

You’re welcome to host up to two guests at a time in the shared lounge areas for up to two hours. You’re responsible for ensuring your guests follow our house rules. If a guest stays longer than two hours, we may ask you to cover the time with a day pass:

  • £40 + VAT on non-peak days (Monday and Friday)
  • £65 + VAT on peak days (Tuesday to Thursday)

Guest check-in

All guests must sign in and out at reception each time they enter or leave the building. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a call and an email letting you know they are waiting for you at reception. If you would like us to show them to another part of the building, like the lounge, a meeting room, or your office, you can reply to the email, and we’ll accommodate your request. If you prefer for us to call you when your guests arrive, let us know and we will note your preference. You will receive an email notification that they have been signed in.

Respect shared space

Please be mindful of others when using shared areas. Keep phone calls and conversations at a considerate volume, and avoid taking calls on speaker. Music should only be used with headphones, and please be respectful of how much space you’re using.

Keep the space clear

To help everyone feel welcome, avoid spreading personal items (like bags, coats, or papers) across multiple desks or seats. Coat hooks are available for your convenience, and in some locations, personal lockers can also be rented for £25 + VAT per month. Please check with your centre team for availability. Nothing should be left overnight unless stored in your assigned locker.

Food consumption

Please use kitchen areas or breakout spaces for eating. Be considerate of other members when consuming food with strong odours.

Communal areas

Shared space etiquette

Our communal areas are designed as places to take a break from your desk, work in a relaxed setting, meet with others, or simply unwind. Please be considerate of those who may need a quieter environment. If the space isn’t suitable for your activity, consider moving to another area in the building or booking a meeting room for focused work, larger meetings, or formal conversations.

Filming and photography

To respect everyone’s privacy, we don’t allow filming or photography in communal areas. If you’d like to capture content, speak to the Argyll team in advance and they’ll do their best to accommodate your request. Please note that we reserve the right to request for any content that has been filmed without permission, or we deem inappropriate, to be removed from third party platforms.

Respect the space

We take great care in designing and maintaining our spaces to a high standard, every detail is considered to create a professional, comfortable, and inspiring environment. To help us preserve this, please treat the furniture and surroundings with care. Avoid taking shoes off and putting your feet on sofas, chairs, or tables, and please refrain from resting them on walls, as this can leave scuff marks and damage surfaces.

Help keep it clean

Our cleaning team supports the upkeep of shared areas, but we rely on everyone to help maintain a welcoming and professional environment. Please clear away any items after use, bring your crockery to the kitchen, and use the dishwasher if it’s available to allow the sink to stay clear. We also ask that you leave bathrooms and showers facilities as you’d wish to find them and avoid leaving any mess behind. Where showers are available, used towels should be placed in the designated bins provided.

Kitchen courtesy

Keep personal items in the kitchen to a minimum. If you’re storing food in the fridge, please check expiry dates – any spoiled items may be removed by our team. If using cupboards, try to keep everything contained and leave space for others.

Terraces & gardens

Smoking and vaping are not permitted on terraces or in garden areas. Please keep these spaces tidy, use bins provided, and be respectful of neighbours by keeping noise to a reasonable level. If you’d like to host a group of 10 or more, please speak with our Conferencing & Events team in advance – private events must be approved beforehand.

Meeting rooms

Booking a room

With over 70 beautifully designed meeting rooms across our London locations, you can find the ideal setting for anything from informal catchups to high-stakes presentations. Rooms can be booked by the hour, half-day, or full day through the Argyll customer portal, or by contacting your centre team by email, phone, or in person at reception.

Payment & cancellation

Meeting room usage is invoiced at the end of each month, and charges can be viewed in your Argyll account.

  • Cancellations made more than 24 working hours before the booking time will not incur a charge.
  • Cancellations made within 24 working hours will be charged in full.

Catering & external items

You’re welcome to bring your own food or drinks into the meeting rooms. A corkage fee of £5 + VAT per person applies for this service. If you’d prefer Argyll to handle your catering, the team will be happy to help arrange this. Water is always provided free of charge, and tea, coffee and biscuits can be added to your booking on request at a rate of £3 + VAT per person.

Access & out-of-hours use

Meeting rooms are available during standard hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 6:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm

If you need access outside these hours, please arrange it in advance – additional charges may apply, including for early catering setups. Where possible, we’ll allow entry to the room 15 minutes before your booking starts. Earlier access must be pre-arranged and will be subject to an additional charge.

Extra time & damages

If your meeting overruns, additional time may be charged. Please ensure the room is left in good condition — you may be liable for any damage or excessive cleaning required.

Valuables

Please keep personal belongings with you at all times. Argyll cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage, or theft of items left unattended.

Office use

Modifying your office

If you’d like to personalise your office, we can decorate, put up artwork or whiteboards, move, add or remove furniture. We just ask that you don’t add any signage or branding to your office door.

If you want to mount items other than artwork to your office walls, make any of the above changes or modifications to your office, the work must be carried out by Argyll. Please speak to the Argyll team at reception to arrange this, or for assistance in adding access control.

Moving out of your office

When you leave, we’ll carry out works to reinstate the office to the standard it was originally – as set out in the terms of your contract. This can include redecoration, making good any holes or marks on the walls, and a full carpet clean or replacement if required.

Please check the terms and conditions of your agreement with Argyll to confirm how you will be charged for these works. Speak to a member of your Argyll team if you have any questions.

Dog etiquette

We welcome well-behaved dogs in many of our buildings, exclusively for office customers. To ensure a safe, professional, and enjoyable environment for everyone, any breeds or types prohibited under the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) are not permitted. Please ensure you follow the guidelines below:

Permission required

Before bringing your dog into any Argyll building, you must get written approval from the General Manager. Please note that some buildings do not allow pets due to lease restrictions.

Where dogs are allowed

Dogs are only permitted in private offices and outdoor areas such as gardens or courtyards. They must always be kept on a lead when outside your office and are not allowed in communal indoor areas.

Supervision and behaviour

Dogs must never be left unattended at any time, even inside your office. We also ask that you manage any noise to ensure your dog doesn’t disturb others. If a dog causes repeated disruption or nuisance, we may revoke access permission.

Cleanliness and damage

Please take your dog outside the building for regular walks – our outdoor spaces should not be used as dog toilets. Always clean up after your dog and use external bins for disposal. If any damage or additional cleaning is required due to your dog, we may need to charge for repair or cleaning costs.
