This summer, we welcomed our largest cohort yet through the 10,000 Black Interns Foundation. Five interns joined teams across people, marketing, finance, data and operations, giving the programme its widest reach across our business to date.

The Foundation remains committed to widening access to opportunities for Black students and graduates across UK industries. Through hands-on experience, the programme helps talented individuals build the skills, confidence and connections to launch their careers, while supporting greater equity and representation.

Each of this year’s interns arrived with their own expectations and left six weeks later with a unique story to tell. Meet all five interns in the short film below and read on to find out more about what they got up to.

Davidzo, People Intern

“I have really enjoyed touring the buildings, especially Cornhill. The decor is great, and a lot of thought went into the spaces, the attention to detail to cater to different clients makes it a nice workspace.”

One focus of Davidzo’s placement was a research project reviewing  Argyll’s recruitment process, with some of her findings already shaping how the team operates.

Linda, Marketing Intern

“I had an idea what marketing would look like in theory, but after six weeks working closely with the team, seeing how meticulous the work behind the scenes really is has completely changed my perspective.”

Linda supported several projects across the marketing team, from website content to building launches, and has put together a guide for future interns joining the programme.

Denzel, Finance Intern

“Smile at everyone, get involved in conversations, it gives you a more seamless transition. There’s nothing to worry about, you get the training you need and receive support and guidance.”

Working across accounts payable, bringing an analytical eye from his engineering background to a team he describes as jolly and welcoming has shown him a side of Finance he didn’t expect to enjoy this much.

Aisha, Data Intern

“Find a balance between giving yourself time to settle in and finding the initiative to ask questions and talk to new people.”

Building her Power BI skills from scratch, working on new dashboard and datasets that give the team a clearer picture of the portfolio, alongside insight to support the business, has been a highlight of her time at Argyll.

Wardo, Operations Intern

“A genuinely people-first company that gave me the opportunity to develop my customer service and operational skills in a supportive environment.”

Being at the heart of the day-to-day building operations, from meeting room readiness to customer check-ins, working closely with colleagues across the business made for a rewarding six weeks.

This year marks our third cohort and continued partnership with the 10,000 Black interns’ foundation and we’re proud to keep playing a part in supporting the next generation of talent.
